The easy-listening set features Baker, singer-bassist Rich Kurtz, and keyboardist Walter Runge performing accessible and melodic versions of pop tunes with a jazz flavor

Dave Baker, whose previous albums and singles have been popular in the Easy-Listening, New Age, Latin Jazz, and Smooth Jazz markets, has released his newest collection, Forever Now.

The guitarist teams up with bassist Rich Kurtz (who also provides lead and background vocals and some cello playing) and keyboardist Walter Runge on a very accessible set of melodic pop hits.

The program includes such favorites as “California Dreaming,” Carole King’s “So Far Away” (on which Dave Baker’s guitar is a little reminiscent of Larry Carlton with the Crusaders), and the Beatles’ “If I Fell.”

A few of the songs, most notably “In My Daughter’s Eyes” (made popular by country singer Martina McBride), a touching rendition of “I Believe In You And Me” (Whitney Houston had the hit), and Todd Rundgren’s “Love Is The Answer” are vocal features for Rich Kurtz. Also included are two songs by Al Stewart (Time Passage” and “Year Of The Cat”), the Thunderclap Newman best seller “Something In The Air,” the Youngbloods’ “Get Together,” Brian Wilson’s “God Only Knows,” and Sting’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.” A special highlight is a sophisticated original by Baker, “Forever Now,” an instrumental that develops and builds as it evolves.

Dave Baker had commercial success from the start of his career with 1995’s Dance Of The Iguana and 2000’s Focus which received plenty of radio airplay. His brand of easy-listening music is full of subtle creativity, strong melodies, and impeccable musicianship. It has proven to be quite popular not only in the United States but in Central and South American, Europe and Japan.  He has recorded ten albums and six singles thus far and has had a successful career as an instrumental guitarist, working steadily on the East Coast.

The multi-talented Rich Kurtz is a top-notch bassist, singer, cellist, composer and sound engineer who owns Cadence Music Inc. As a bassist he has worked with such artists as Ray Charles, George Benson, Luciano Pavarotti, Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Feinstein among others. Walter Runge is known as a keyboardist who can play in any style. He considers Joe Sample and Joe Zawinul to be two of his inspirations.

Now with the upcoming release of Forever Now, Dave Baker’s inventive arrangements of popular classic tunes along with his always attractive guitar playing will certainly be gaining a wider audience.
